2005 Maison Louis Latour Château Corton-Grancey Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / CORTON-CHARLEMAGNE
Wine Spectator | Rating: 92
A rich, sumptuous red, with a velvety texture and cherry compote and spice notes. It has a sweetness at its center, but lively acidity and firm tannins too. Good lingering finish. Approachable now, but will get better. 3,600 cases made.Author: Bruce SandersonBurghound | Rating: 93
A very subtle touch of wood frames a spicy red berry fruit nose that dissolves into rich, full, well-muscled and sweet flavors that possess a good deal more volume and while the mid-palate is supple and round, the finish has the firmness that one expects from a big Corton. There is much better balance here and this should age well.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 2nd Quarter, 2007Wine Advocate | Rating: 89
The Latour flagship 2005 Corton Chateau Corton Grancey offers both aromatically and on the palate a wealth of mineral characteristics: chalk, brine, wet stone and a distinctly alkaline overall cast. Expansive, black cherry fruit (as well as cherry pits) and underlying meatiness emerge more prominently in the finish. There is some depth of flavor , although the wine's personality - two weeks before it was due to be bottled - remained relatively austere.Author: David Schildknecht

Earth, spice with white pepper on the nose. Dry cherry, earth and herbs on the pallet. Nuance of chocolate and mineral. Full mouth feel with a long finish. Not worth $80.00.Drink Dates: 2012-2018Author: bob1001
