A truly kaleidoscopic nose features a full panoply of fruit aromas ranging from high-toned red to lower register blue and black nuanced with anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom and tea that introduce taut, energetic and wonderfully intense flavors that exude power and punch though not the sheer class and precision of the Beaux Monts. Still, there is much to admire here, especially on the palate staining and hugely long finish.

Difficult to read at the moment although underneath there is no shortage of rich, yes, almost burnt fruit. This one needs a lot of a lot of time - a bit surly at the moment. Sinewy build.

Good bright ruby-red. Wild dark fruits, smoke and minerals on the nose. Enticingly sweet on the palate, but not as explosive as the Beaux-Monts and less expressive today. But ripe, harmonious acids carry the finish. For her part, Lalou Bize says this is more flatteur today than the Beaux-Monts but I find the tannins more present. And the Beaux-Monts is finer.

  • "Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France

Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
