A fascinating and notably ripe nose of plum, cassis and black raspberry nuanced by hints of Gevrey earth and underbrush that can also be found on the rich, sweet and delicious flavors that are stylish and nicely pure, all wrapped in a sappy, delicious and mouth coating finish. This too should be capable of aging well over the medium-term.

Compact and firm, with pure cherry and black currant flavors. The tannins are evident, and the acidity lends a brightness. Has moderate length.

Some lack of clarity on the nose, then sweet flattering palate somehow as though it has been through an 'acceptability factor'! Not quite notable tannins.

The Drouhin 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin displays aromas of black cherry, fennel, black tea, and singed roasted meats, comes onto the palate bright and invigorating and with more obvious structure and tannic 'chewƒ?_ to it than Drouhin's other wines, and finishes with low-toned bitter suggestions and savory meatiness.
