Wine Advocate | Rating: 90As for the 2005 Cote Rotie La Landonne, Gerin told me he had six times the demand for this vintage than he had production. The wine offers notes of truffle, asphalt, cold steel, smoked herbs, and some bacon fat and black cherry. It is medium-bodied, relatively austere, has excellent to outstanding depth, but it seems to be a long-term proposition, as it is very backward and remote at present.Author: Robert Parker
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 95Ruby-red. Intense spice- and floral-accented cassis and blackberry aromas, with a strong graphite note. Vibrant and expansive, with bright, pure dark berry flavors and a building, sweet finish. A strong suggestion of violet pastille lingers impressively. This looks to be outstanding.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: January/February 2007
Wine Spectator | Rating: 96Stunning, with a depth of fruit and minerality that should reward cellaring, this has layer upon layer of blackberry, macerated currant and plum sauce notes laid over dense graphite, mesquite, coffee, iron and melted licorice notes. It's all seamlessly put together, with a superlong finish.Author: James Molesworth
This domaine underwent a resurgence of quality starting in 1990 due to the dedication of Jean-Michel Gerin and oenologist Jean-Luc Colombo. Gerin harvests his Syrah and Viognier vines on the right bank of the Rhone River. The resulting wines are ones of firm structure, rich black fruit and sweet, toasty smoke and spice.
