The 2005 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo is loaded with jammy blueberries, blackberries, spices and sweet toasted oak. It offers an attractive plumpness to the fruit and lovely balance although the tannins could use a little more polish.
Fruit really came on after 1/2 hour. Dry with cherry fruit and nice acidity and balance.

Wine was opaque purple. Very Italian nose. Sweet black fruit, vanilla, cedar, stone, leather, game and sour cherry. Taste was a great combo of earth, high acidity and a mix of red and black fruit, coupled with hints of game, leather, tobacco and graphite. Medium tannins. Over time, the fruit got stronger and was joined by truffles and cocoa. Soft for an aglianico. A beautiful, complex wine with enough acidity to match a huge range of dishes. Will be even better in a few years.
