($76) Bright red color. Spicy, perfumed bouquet of raspberry, cherry, smoky bacon and mocha. Fleshy red fruit flavors coat the palate, taking on a juicy, spicy character with air. Admirably balanced and pure, with excellent finishing sweetness and persistence. This pinot delivers striking the clarity and vivacity.

A notably ripe nose that carries the barest trace of menthol to the pretty mix of both red and blue pinot fruit aromas merges into round, rich and full flavors that are delicious and offer good depth and plenty of punch, all wrapped in a sappy if slightly edgy finish that displays a noticeable touch of warmth that is not subtle. I like the depth here and this is actually relatively light on its feet for a wine sporting close to 15% alcohol. To be clear, this is certainly not a bruiser in style and is rather more like a well muscled middle weight.

Fresh aromas of wild berry, cola, sage and mint are rich and concentrated, with a nice fresh earth loaminess to the texture and finish. Young and tight.

The 2005 Pinot Noir Ryan displays terrific black cherry fruit in the nose, a deep ruby color, hints of forest floor, Chinese black tea, and some floral notes. The wine has fabulous fruit, medium to full body, and serious length. Its delicacy and complexity are reminiscent of a grand cru from the Cote de Nuits.

Just an excellent pinot nose, very bight and lots of fruit. Also shows some nuance and other interesting notes. Excellent mouth feel, round as can be, good acidity. Very long, perfect finish.
