Firm and well-structured, with a mix of anise, dried currant, wild berry and mineral notes. The tannins are ripe and tight, but the core fruit flavors flow through.Author: James Laube

Beautiful wine...lush mouthfeel, sweet tannins and soft but grippy finishAuthor: MJMSelf | Rating: 94
Coming into its own now. Soft sweet tanins, casis, prune, blackberry. Good fruit, pretty in the glass. Stands up well to the nice beef stroganoff we enjoyed it with. I think it will continue to improve for a few more years.Author: DaddySelf | Rating: 90
Dark inky purple color. Amazing nose with lots of berries. Wine opened up within minutes and continued to evolve over the course of a 2-hour meal. Good structure with ample silky tannin.Drink Dates: 2015Author: hipofantSelf | Rating: 93
Extremely smooth yet vibrant with great notes off blue and blackberry with hints of anise. Will develop for several years to come.Drink Dates: 2019-2024Author: Karl LSelf | Rating: 94

Beginning with the 2000 vintage, Lisa Drinkward and Francoise Peschon, friends and mothers, began creating what was soon to become a major classic in the annals of Napa Valley startups. Both partners came in with excellent credentials - Drinkward, viticulturist at Behrens & Hitchcock (now known as Erna Schein), and Peschon, winemaker at Araujo (she recently transitioned to a consultant position there). Sourcing their fruit from small family-owned vineyards in Calistoga and producing no more than 500 cases, the pair dispels the myth that you need a sophisticated marketing plan and a fancy tasting room to compete in Napa Valley. If anything, their model is emulated more and more. Critics have been following it for a few years and there never seems to be enough to go around.
