A sleeper of the vintage. No tasting note given.
    Author: Robert Parker
  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 92

Masses of crushed grape, honey and hints of clove and nutmeg. Full-bodied, very sweet and very lively, with lots of acidity and spicy fruit. Long and flavorful, with loads of passion fruit flavor.
    Author: James Suckling
  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91

Pale yellow color. Spicy, perfumed aromas of pineapple, peach nectar, nutmeg and ginger, with a complicating smoky nuance. Juicy, pure and penetrating, with harmonious ripe acidity framing the pineapple, white peach and citrus flavors. This has an almost painful spiciness today that gives the finish a somewhat aggressive character, but this is long and promising.

  • Jancis Robinson | Rating: 16

Rather cheesy on the nose. Dry finish. Not quite correct. But real depth of flavour.

Chateau Doisy-Daene, a Second Cru Classe in 1855, is located in Barsac in the Sauternes appellation. Doisy-Daene has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924, and for more than eighty years, three generations of family vine growers have exercised their talents to produce the estate's great sweet white wines.

The composition of the soil where Doisy-Daene is grown is a thin layer of clayey sand, known as "Barsac red sand," which sits on top of a chalky subsoil. This soil type is particularly well-suited to the making of elegant and distinguished white wines.

The wine produced is defined by the essence of "noble rot": strength, balance, and subtlety. Doisy-Daene's goal is to produce a style of wine which is a great expression of the calcareous soil on which it is grown and a truly aesthetic family tradition.
