(a 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Ruby-red. Coolish aromas of black cherry and licorice. Supple, fresh and fruit-driven, with enticing floral lift to the sweet, pliant flavors. Finishes with ripe tannins. Excellent for this second wine.

Currant and sweet tobacco aromas follow through to a full body, with seamless tannins and a ripe berry, tobacco and coffee aftertaste. Enjoyable already. The second wine of Cos d'Estournel.

Slightly simple rim. Sweet oak on the nose. Very glossy and polished - yet it is recognisably St-EstŠphe. Spicy. Attractive drink.

The second wine, the 2005 Les Pagodes de Cos, is already delicious. Offering plenty of cedar, cappuccino, and black cherry notes in a medium-bodied, seamless style with no hard edges, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next decade.

**Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 176. Apr 2008. Reviewer : Robert Parker. The second wine, the 2005 Les Pagodes de Cos, is already delicious. Offering plenty of cedar, cappuccino, and black cherry notes in a medium-bodied, seamless style with no hard edges, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next decade. Drink: 2008 - 2018. **Jancis Robinson: Published :13-Apr-2006. Very vibrant, dynamic nose - great intensity. Vigorous, savoury attack and then wonderfully opulent fruit. Lots of richness and ripe fruit but in a pretty strict corset of fine but very chewy tannin. Well done! Definitely St-EstŠphe. Always instructive to taste at Cos immediatle after Lafite with Cos so very different and very St-EstŠphe. Just falls away a little suddenly on the finish. Younger vine produce in here. When to Drink : 2014 to 2024. **Wine Spectator: Issue: Mar 31, 2008. Currant and sweet tobacco aromas follow through to a full body, with seamless tannins and a ripe berry, tobacco and coffee aftertaste. Enjoyable already. The second wine of Cos d'Estournel. Best after 2010. -JS. **Stephen Tanzer: May/Jun 06. By Stephen Tanzer.( 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot). Ruby-red. Coolish aromas of black cherry and licorice. Nice structure with some spice and nice fruit. I liked it.

Classified as a Second Growth Bordeaux estate, Chateau Cos d'Estournel is without doubt, one of the top producers in the St. Estephe appellation, producing complex and intense, full-bodied wines. The chateau is often referred to as "super second," meaning that it produces wines at a quality nearing that of the First Growth houses. Cos d'Estournel wines contain a large amount of Merlot (40%), one of the highest percentages in the region, in fact; this gives the wines their wonderful fleshy, chewy texture. The chateau itself is a very unusual pagoda style building which was built by the 19th century owner Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel. The building is featured on the bottle label, making it easy to spot in the Bordeaux section. The estate also produces a second wine called Les Pagodes de Cos.
