($132) Deep red-ruby. Dark berries, black cherry, crushed stone and violet on the nose. Lush, sweet and highly concentrated but closed today owing to its strong stony component. But there's superb richness to the flavors of dark fruits and red licorice, along with compelling, subtle soil tones. Probably best on the horizontal back end, which features a dusty impression of extract, terrific length and lovely aromatic lift. I would not be surprised to see this wine merit an even higher score in seven or eight years.

A classy and sophisticated nose of plum and spicy red pinot and blue fruit aromas trimmed in violet notes complements the rich, full, sweet and generous flavors that possess plenty of dry extract on the detailed, linear and driving finish that at present is on the austere side but should add fat with time in bottle, indeed I would expect this to eventually become opulent. A lovely and palate staining effort that is all refinement and finesse.

Quite rich, dense and charming without being at all sweet. Satin texture. The fruit only just masks all that acidity but it manages it. Very intense yet very refreshing.
