($105) Good medium red. Complex, highly aromatic nose melds musky red fruits, smoke, earth and game. Wonderfully perfumed and sweet in the mouth, with an almost deceptively silky texture considering the wine's solid underlying structure and grip. Sweet red cherry flavor lifted by a noble note of blood orange. Integrated, ripe acidity gives shape to the wine and carries the finish. Deceptively easy to taste now, but built to age.

Here the aromas are quite ripe, running more to dark berry and black cherry with traces of spice and underbrush that can also be found on the rich, full and generous flavors that are sweet and mouth coating. This is wonderfully fresh and refined with dusty tannins and excellent intensity on the balanced and beautifully long finale. I quite like this as there is a real sense of vibrancy in the mouth. A classic Charmes that is built to age.

Lovely perfume, gentle rather subtle fruit on the palate. Quite dry and angular - a relative lightweight but well-balanced and positive.
