2004 CVNE Vina Real Reserva

($32; based on 80% tempranillo) Deep red. Spicy cherry, redcurrant, herbs, underbrush and smoky oak on the nose. Offers an attractive silky texture, noteworthy intensity and a light touch, with sweet red fruit and floral pastille flavors gaining power with air. Finishes with velvety tannins and very good mineral cut. This is more energetic than many Riojas from this ripe vintage.
