  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

($50; from a vineyard in Yountville) Hazy, unfiltered appearance. Crystallized lemon and orange peel on the nose, with good mineral lift. Then fat and sweet, with exotic, highly concentrated soft citrus flavors. Quite lush and seamless, and very long on the back end.
    Author: Stephen Tanzer
    Issue: May/June 2006
  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 94

A succulent wine, smooth, rich and creamy, with layers of ripe apple, pear, fig and a hint of nectarine joining the hazelnut and exotic wood spices. Finishes with a long, seamless aftertaste that is delicate and refined.

The 2004 Chardonnay Two Rivers Ranch comes from a cool Yountville estate. This has deep mineral, fruit, orange blossom, marmalade, and honeysuckle notes, full body, beautiful purity, and a long, heady finish.

  • Former Beringer Executive Tor Kenward launched his brand in the early 2000s and soon tapped Jeff Ames, the German-born, Memphis-raised protege of Thomas Brown to be his winemaker. Concentrating on red Rhone varieties (bottled under his Rock label) as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay (under TOR) from single vineyard sites, the wines have swiftly gained critically high acclaim. Production for any one wine rarely exceeds 200 cases.
