($175) Dark red. Lush, candied blackberry and boysenberry aromas, with a suggestion of dark chocolate. Creamy in texture and packed with sweet berry and cassis flavors and an exotic fruitcake quality. Takes on a ripe, tarry note on the gently tannic finish, which shows very good grip and length.

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard offers a sweet, classic creme de cassis-scented nose with loamy, earthy notes in the background. Layered with an opulent texture, the sometimes ferocious tannins from Stagecoach Vineyard fruit have been beautifully tamed and civilized. This full-bodied, loaded Cabernet Sauvignon is just approaching early adolescence, and should drink well for another 10-15+ years.

Very ripe yet well-proportioned, with rich, zesty black cherry and wild berry fruit that's fleshy and opulent, turning elegant and refined. 534 cases made.

Color - dark red core, red edges Nose - Notes of scorched earth, camphor, blackberries and blueberries rise from the glass. Palate - Not as tannic as I would have expected, very backward in flavors and texture; plum and chocolate notes add to the flavors & aromas, decent acidity, long fruit laden finish

Full of fruit, full body. Initially bursting with flavor on the palate with crushed rock and minerals and fruit. Great flavor on the back of mouth and finish is 15 plus seconds.

When Paul Hobbs founded his eponymous winery in 1991, he set out to produce small lot, hand-crafted, vineyard designate wines. He began with just three - one Chardonnay, one Pinot Noir and one Cabernet Sauvignon.

Over the years, the small family of wines has grown to over a dozen as numerous new and historic vineyards have captured Hobbs' attention since that first vintage. The current wines are the result of years of perseverance, patience and experimentation in Hobbs' continuing adventure with wine. It is his great hope that the fruit-driven, complex wines he makes with his dedicated team will continue to appeal to many people around the globe.
