($115) Inky ruby. Room-filling aromas of fresh raspberry, strawberry jam, sandalwood, potpourri, yellow rose and minerals, with hints of white pepper and exotic tobacco. Incredibly sweet and lush, the deep, powerful red fruit flavors brightly accented by fresh acidity and tangy minerality. Finishes with fully absorbed tannins, impeccable balance and superb purity and intensity. Another outstanding wine from this exceptional vintage. (European Cellars, Charlotte, NC)

Elegance and intensity mark this alluring red. The raspberry and cherry flavors are ripe, fresh and expressive, with floral and mineral notes and just enough vanilla oak for polish. Ripe, firm tannins promise fine development. 700 cases imported.

The 2004 Costers de Vinas Viejas is 50% Carinena, 48% Garnacha, and 2% Merlot aged for 16 months in new French oak. Deep purple, the aromas are other-worldly with truffle, tar, graphite, kirsch, and wild blueberry among the array of scents leaping from the glass. Flamboyant and opulent, the wine has remarkable richness and depth of flavor leading to a 60-second finish. Drink this hedonistic effort over the next 10-12 years.
Deep purple. Reticent nose of cherry and blackberry. Expansive with notes of cherry that coat the entire palate. Nice acidity with dusty tannins. Built to age. Some heat in the back end but this will improve when it all comes together. 50+7+9+18+8=92+

Solid priorat, if not overwhelmingly ditinct. Not weighty enough at the finish. May need more time in the bottle.
