UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / SONOMA

($36) Medium bright red.Raspberry, smoked meat, leather and flowers on the nose.Round and juicy, with slightly tart acids and a bitter pomegranate character giving the cherry fruit a refreshing quality. A bit pinched but offers good intensity and verve. Finishes with dusty tannins.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: January/February 2007Jancis Robinson | Rating: 17
Dark crimson. Very low key nose and much more prominent acidity than most of these wines. Very lively and racy with a future. Hint of coffee on the finish. Relatively good value.Author: Jancis RobinsonBurghound | Rating: 88
This too is really quite lovely with somewhat more deeply pitched red and black cherry and raspberry aromas that introduce rich, round, forward and sweet flavors that offer good concentration and an attractive sweetness though I find the moderate oak to detract slightly from the purity of the finish. Still, this is an attractive effort that is easy to like yet offers good depth and length.Author: Allen MeadowsIssue: 1st Quarter, 2007
The Fritz family founded Lynmar Winery in 1990 to produce world-class wines reflecting the character of the estate Quail Hill Vineyard and the Russian River Valley appellation. Quail Hill is a unique site in the region and is the exclusive source for the Reserve and Estate wines, as well as the foundation for the appellation-designated wines. The vineyard possesses superb qualities for growing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The combination of the vineyard's soil composition, long growing season, dramatic elevation changes, and clone and rootstock selections make it a prime location for growing these varieties.
The character of the estate vineyard guides the signature Lynmar style for all of the wines; red wines with rich, full, deep, ripe berry flavors with natural acids and soft tannins, and white wines with balance, composition, and expressiveness.
