A sleek, intense yet refined style, with pleasant earth, mineral, cherry and berry flavors that unfold gracefully, gaining depth and complexity while maintaining a sense of elegance and a fine balance.

I may have caught this at an awkward time as it was only just released but the relatively charry oak has not yet integrated with the otherwise ripe and very Carneros-style cool red fruits and further conveys a slightly bitter character to the nicely precise flavors and finish. This may come together as there appears to be good concentration but at present, it is a question mark.

The 2004 Pinot Noir has a gorgeously sweet and ripe nose of black cherries and currants intermixed with some spring flowers and undergrowth. Medium-bodied, straightforward, but pure and reminiscent of a premier cru from the Cotes de Beaune, this wine should drink nicely for 4-5 years.
