Aromas of mint, bay leaf and sage turn dry and austere on the palate, with a good dose of tannins wrapped around dried currant and herb notes. Decant for now. 2,050 cases made.

Since 1990, Cabernet Sauvignon has an enviable track record at Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyard. Moreover, they should last for 20-30 or more years. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a more front end-loaded, fruit-driven effort boasting a dense ruby/purple color as well as an exotic nose of black fruits, soy, toasty oak, truffles, tapenade, and spice box. Fleshy with low acidity and loads of texture and richness, it should drink well for 15-20 years.

Nestled deep in Conn Valley, east of St. Helena and the Meadowood Resort, Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyard remains an impressive, if not sometimes forgotten, source of very complex and potentially age worthy wines in Napa Valley. The vineyard produces beautifully rich, blackcurrant-flavored wines that have demonstrated stunning purity of flavor and aging potential while portraying a union of flamboyant Californian ripeness and Bordelais elegance and nuance.

Todd Anderson and winemaker Mac Sawyer initially put themselves on the map with their long-lived, estate Cabernet, but have expanded their repertoire to include Bordeaux tributes "Right Bank Cuvee" and Robert Parker-favorite "Eloge," which he calls "a distinct effort of first-growth quality."
