2003 Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon T6 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / NAPA
Wine Advocate | Rating: 99Virtually perfect, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon T6 Beckstoffer To- Kalon Vineyard offers up an awesome display of fragrant creosote, white chocolate, blackberries, cassis, cedarwood and incense. Full-bodied with a multidimensional mouthfeel, excellent opulence and layers of fruit, it possesses stunning purity and richness, a phenomenally fragrant nose (the most aromatic of all these Schrader Cabs), and a long finish. The tannins suggest another 3-4 years of cellaring will be beneficial. It should keep for 20+ years.Author: Robert Parker
Wine Spectator | Rating: 94Dense and chewy, with a rich, massive core of earthy currant, wild berry, cedar and rye, it firms up on the finish, with taut tannins that offer a hint of chicory. The finish keeps revealing extra flavor nuances. 125 cases made.Author: James Laube
Schrader's mission statement is essentially one where their 30-year leases on vineyard parcels give them the ability to present a specific clonal study of Cabernet Sauvignon from three highly desired clones (4, 6, and 337) grown within a single vineyard. The bottom line is that with their production averages about 1,600 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines do have subtle differences, but most importantly, all of them are extraordinary in quality - among the finest Cabernets in California. Fred Schrader and his wife, Carol, hired Thomas Brown to make these wines.
