From an Oakville hillside vineyard, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard possesses a dense purple color, a scorched earth/broodingly backward, volcanic style, and extraordinary concentration as well as richness. A tightly-knit personality and a tannic structure suggest patience will be required.Author: Robert ParkerInternational Wine Cellar | Rating: 91
Good medium ruby. Tight aromas of black cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, iron and minerals. Suave and lush if not hugely concentrated, but this conveys an impression of refinement and offers very good life in the mouth. The tannins hit the palate later, offering the flavors a chance to expand.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: May/June 2006Wine Spectator | Rating: 91
This wine grows and grows on you. Elegant and stylish, with a mix of vivid blackberry and black cherry fruit and a light touch of creamy oak and lavender. The intensity builds, revealing extra facets of depth and concentration, with firm tannins and hints of mineral and herb. 584 cases made.Author: James Laube

The most muscular wine of the night, this is probably 2-4 years from its peak. Massive layers of fruit and texture coat the palate. The Stagecoach wines to me need about 10 years minimum to show their best. The 2001 Hobbs SC is only about a year or so into its prim drinking window. This 2003 however is drinking like a fine, riper vintage of La Mission Haut-Brion. Color: Almost opaque, the dark core graded out to a vibrant claret like edge Nose & Palate: The nose was dense, and filled with scorched earth, blackberry, licorice, cedar, black cherry and sweet oak. The palate was equally dense, with an unctuous texture; medium and very ripe tannin and a long, long 1+minute finish. Hard to not make this my WOTN but I know it can get better.Drink Dates: 2013-2025Author: Koby
When Paul Hobbs founded his eponymous winery in 1991, he set out to produce small lot, hand-crafted, vineyard designate wines. He began with just three - one Chardonnay, one Pinot Noir and one Cabernet Sauvignon.
Over the years, the small family of wines has grown to over a dozen as numerous new and historic vineyards have captured Hobbs' attention since that first vintage. The current wines are the result of years of perseverance, patience and experimentation in Hobbs' continuing adventure with wine. It is his great hope that the fruit-driven, complex wines he makes with his dedicated team will continue to appeal to many people around the globe.
