  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

(there are 4 barrels of this, compared to a normal 12 or 13) Deep ruby-red. Black fruits, leather and minerals on the nose. Sweet, highly concentrated and very ripe, with plenty of verve and underlying spine. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and good grip. A strong showing.

    Issue: March/April 2005
  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 92

Revealing a nose of red cherries, cassis, blackberries, and tar, the dark-colored 2003 Corton Greves (red) is in a similar vein to the Pommard Rugiens. Broad-shouldered, chewy, and thick, it is medium-bodied, crammed with dark fruits, stones, licorice, as well as leather, and boasts a dense, lengthy finish. Packed with ripe tannin, this offering appears loaded for the long-haul. Drink it between 2005 and 2020.

This is ripe but not nearly as ripe as the Epenots with elegant and expressive plum, cassis, anise and blackberry aromas that merge seamlessly into big, firm and fresh full-bodied flavors sitting on a base of obvious minerality plus a tight, reserved and punchy finish. This will require plenty of time before blossoming.
    Issue: 2nd Quarter, 2005
