($25-$35) Good deep red-ruby. Extravagantly ripe, exotic aromas of roasted dark fruits and roasted meat. Large-scaled, fat and full, with atypical sweetness nicely leavened by harmonious acidity. Creamy, dense and full for Lafon-Rochet. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent palate-saturating length. A great vintage for this chateau.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: May/June 2006Wine Advocate | Rating: 90
A sleeper of the vintage, the dense blue/purple-colored 2003 Lafon-Rochet exhibits plenty of blackberry, cassis and graphite along with a touch of toasty new oak. The wine is more backward than expected, but it possesses full-bodied, concentrated flavors as well as good elegance, purity, and overall equilibrium. This is a long-distance runner.Author: Robert ParkerJancis Robinson | Rating: 15
Dark crimson. Sweet, rich and raisined on the nose. Too thick and sweet to be fine. Over the top. Drying on the finish. Very rustic. (Average group score: 16.2)Author: Jancis RobinsonWine Spectator | Rating: 90
Very exciting aromas of crushed blackberry and lightly smoky barrels. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium finish. A bit tight but balanced.Author: James Suckling

Very dark in the glass, super-ripe nose of black berry fruit, cassis and plum with just a touch of that tell tail saint-estephe funk. Full bodied and juicy with massive amounts of acidity and a good dose of firm tannin. All of this backed by plenty of fruit, very young and with many, many years left. Primary and young, this will show complexity in the future. Long distance runner!Author: BORDEAUXLICIOUS
On a drive though the sprawling vineyard land of the northern Medoc, Chateau Lafon-Rochet is a luminous yellow beacon on the St. Estephe horizon. Situated bordering Chateau Lafite-Rothschild and Chateau Cos D'Estournel, Lafon-Rochet can trace its glowing yellow roots back to Guy Tesseron, who purchased the 4th Growth-classified property in 1959. Under Tesseron, the grand, Chartreuse-style Chateau was built as part of a reinvestment project, which also included widespread replanting. The Tesseron family still owns Lafon-Rochet and is credited with upgrading its quality much in the same way they have propelled their other property, Chateau Pontet-Canet, to prominence.
