International Wine Cellar | Rating: 87($82) Dark red. Spicy, ripe aromas of dark berries, cherry and a suggestion of prune. Quite thick in the middle and slightly heavy on the finish. This really shows the vintage.Author: Josh RaynoldsIssue: January/February 2006
Wine Spectator | Rating: 92Quite juicy, with lots of briar, red currant and black cherry flavors running along tangy acidity. Shows more terroir-driven mineral and sanguine notes than most of its peers, with red fruit, pepper and tobacco on the finish. 1,080 cases made.Author: Per-Henrik Mansson
Wine Advocate | Rating: 91The 2003 Cote Rotie Champin Le Seigneur is an opulent, sexy, whore-ish sort of Cote Rotie boasting soaring aromas of chocolate, smoke, blackberries, cassis, raspberries, hazelnuts, and orange rinds. Its low acidity, plump, fleshy flavors, and broad mouthfeel are irresistible. Enjoy it over the next 6-10 years.Author: Robert Parker
This domaine underwent a resurgence of quality starting in 1990 due to the dedication of Jean-Michel Gerin and oenologist Jean-Luc Colombo. Gerin harvests his Syrah and Viognier vines on the right bank of the Rhone River. The resulting wines are ones of firm structure, rich black fruit and sweet, toasty smoke and spice.
