($50) Medium red with a palish rim. Rather reduced nose offers spices, meat, mocha and smoke. Supple and plump, with strawberry, mineral and smoke flavors complicated by lovely pinot earth character. Very sweet, smooth wine, finishing with supple tannins and very good length. (A second bottle offered similar aromas and flavors but was a bit drier on the finish, with dusty tannins, rating 88 points.)

This is already displaying some aromatic development that includes forest floor and underbrush notes on the otherwise pretty red pinot and berry fruit nose that merges into delicious, round and sweet middle weight flavors that retain a fine sense of detail and punch on the persistent finish. Overall, very solid if not sensational quality.
An almost perfect wine the only flaw was the finish. Opened it 3.5 hours prior and did not decant. The wine was very thin in color and showing its age but the nose was spectacular spice, cranberries, very subtle hints of barnyard. On the pallet it was very nice very nice with cranberry refreshing zesty feel. the finish is the only down fall which is a bit disjointed and lacks the effervescent velvety finish that it leads you to expect
