($87; 13.2% natural alcohol, from vines harvested on October 4) Deep red. Black cherry and licorice on the ripe nose. At once solidly structured and lively, with fat, sweet, mouthfilling flavors and a youthfully medicinal element. Finishes sweet and long, with solid tannins that avoid dryness. Excellent for village wine.

This too is noticeably oaky with plenty of wood spice framing intense small red berry fruit aromas with finer tannins than the Beaune examples display. To be sure, this too is very firm and indeed linear in character with a lovely mineral note on the finish. Quite elegant for its class with plenty of vibrancy.

The domaine was "officially" founded in 1999 when the Boisset family's 91 acres were united under one name. Their original vineyard holding, Les Evocelles, was purchased in 1964 by Jean-Claude Boisset. The family's 91 acres are in 30 appellations in the Cote d'Or, with the latest purchase being the 24-acre premier cru Blanc de Vougeot Monopole. Other vineyards of note include Bonnes Mares, Corton Charlemagne, and Clos de Vougeot. Pascal Marchand is the winemaker, and the purity of the Burgundian terroir is due to his diligence at preserving the natural farming and biodynamic techniques of generations past.
