A rich, dark, deeply concentrated wine, with layers of ripe, perfumed, floral blackberry, wild berry, exotic spice and pencil lead shavings that persist on a long, complex finish, where rough-hewn tannins flex their muscles.

The least expensive offering in this group is the 2002 Syrah Abba Vineyard. A hefty, potent example at 15.1% alcohol, it possesses good fruit, medium body, and notes of earth, resiny-tinged black cherry and currant fruit, as well as touches of pepper and spice. While not complex, it is an early drinking Syrah with a degree of elegance.
