2002 Domaine Henri Boillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les Embrazees 1er Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91
($73) Aromatic nose of pear and smoke. Fat, sweet and stuffed with flavors of pear, peach and spices. Offers superb sweetness of fruit and a pliant texture. The 2002s tended to finish with about 2 grams per liter of residual sugar, noted Boillot, while the 2003s are generally drier.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: September/October 2004Rating: 92
The aromatic profile is riper than the Chaum‚es with a lovely nutty character followed by very ripe, sappy, naturally sweet, almost opulent flavors that possess such good underlying acidity that the balance is maintained despite the pronounced ripeness and weight. This is not a wine of finesse but the power and punch coupled with simply stunning intensity makes the Embraz‚es worth the price of admission.Issue: 3rd Quarter, 2004
