Big and ripe, a mouthwatering wine with tingly acidity bringing harmony to a wash of plum, blackberry, cherry and dusky spice flavors, which persist on the fine-grained, not terribly tannic finish. 2,599 cases made.

Full red. Enticingly sweet aromas of black raspberry, tobaccco, flowers, camphor and chocolatey oak. Supple, spicy and very lively, with sappy, concentrated flavors of red fruits and flowers, complemented but not dominated by oaky torrefaction notes of chocolate and coffee. Ultimately less thick than the Upper Terrace, but also more delicate and sophisticated, with sharper definition and more obvious backbone, and more successful integration of oak. This, too, offers impressive mid-palate energy for Oregon pinot noir, particularly one at this level of ripeness.

Very ripe aromas of cherry, raspberry and currants with a subtle undertone of kirsch are followed by round, supple, rich and impressively intense medium full flavors that possess ample mid-palate sap to buffer the firm but ripe structure on the beautifully long finish. Relative to prior vintages that I have tasted in the past, this is a more elegant effort with less emphasis on extraction and much less obvious wood influence and thus greater overall balance and harmony. There isn't yet a great deal of complexity but the underlying material suggests that this will likely come with time in the bottle. A fine effort and recommended.

Dark cherry nose. The pinot fruit is still in evidence on the palate but it is starting to become unbalanced with the wood and alcohol becoming more prominent. Medium finish. Drink now.

Maybe I had a bad egg, but I found it thin and overly acidic and alcoholic, reminiscent of cough syrup. Very disappointed, will have to try one of the others in time I have remaining. In time it got no better, decanting, vinturi etc...

Nice bright fruit with tingling acidity. Light with short finish. Food pairing: Those also matched with an unoaked chardonnay. Great with my goat cheese salad and spicy calamari

    Still too spritzy for me.

The Beaux Freres estate property, an old pig farm, is 24 acres of tightly-spaced, low-yielding vines on the steep slopes of Ribbon Ridge in Northern Willamette Valley. Winemaking philosophy and technique follow a commitment to minimal intervention, with native yeast fermentations and only one racking prior to bottling. All the wines are unfined and unfiltered. The wine remains in French oak for a period of 10-12 months, in varying proportions of new wood depending on the strength of the vintage. Because of the "reductive" winemaking style, which keeps the wine away from oxygen as much as possible, Beaux Freres Pinots are made for bottle age. The end result is a true expression of prime Willamette terrior.
