2001 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 90
($115) Good medium-deep red. High-toned aromas of candied red cherry, flowers and resiny oak. Rich but dry and tightly wound today, with a strong edge of acidity. The raspberry fruit is nicely lifted by a floral perfume. This has more dimension than the Clos Prieur but is very unevolved today, showing a firm structure typical of the vintage. I'd wait five or six years on this.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2004Rating: 88
Refined aromas of small red fruits, especially raspberry and strawberry that are wonderfully elegant, precise, balanced and intense but candidly too light for a grand cru, even one that is naturally on the light side like Chapelle. In short, this is perfectly good but hardly profound.Issue: 1st Quarter, 2004
