($102) Good dark red. Superripe aromas of cassis, blackberry, black cherry, licorice and spicecake; this reminded me of Napa Valley cabernet! Then creamy-sweet and rich, with vibrant flavors of black fruits and violet. Today, the wine's strong backbone is hidden by its flesh. The strong but thoroughly ripe tannins reach the front teeth. Finishes with terrific sappy persistence.

A refined yet bold nose of earth, game, black raspberries and cassis leads to very ripe, powerful and notably intense flavors gifted with stunningly good length. Like the 2002 before it, this possesses that presence that great wines all have.
