($55-$75) Red-ruby. Roasted berries, game, tobacco, leather and nuts on the rich, full-blown nose. Suave and harmonious, with warm flavors of tobacco, mocha and hot rocks. Less powerful than the 2002 but already quite inviting. Finishes with ripe tannins and a surprisingly juicy quality.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: May/June 2004Wine Advocate | Rating: 95
A brilliant dense purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary perfume of camphor, graphite, plums, cassis, and barbecue spices. A prodigious, multilayered, medium-bodied effort with exceptional concentration, a fabulous texture, and a 50-second finish, this brilliant achievement is one of the vintages monumental wines. P.S. Yields were a mere 28 hectoliters per hectare, which no doubt explains the wine's stunning concentration.Author: Robert ParkerWine Spectator | Rating: 90
Aromas of berries, tobacco and meat follow through to a full-bodied palate, with good fruit, silky tannins and a delicate finish. This is a refined Pape. 7,000 cases made.Author: James SucklingJancis Robinson | Rating: 16
Mid to dark crimson. Glossy dark crimson. Heady. Sweet, yet with some Cabernet greenness in the mix too. Not as harmonious as some vintages of this wine. In fact it tastes a little underripe on the palate.Author: Jancis Robinson

DElicious. Served with a roasted leg of lamb. Nicely balanced. Long finale. Is still a bit closed in the nose. Will go for another 5 years easily.Author: pog
The chateau, located in the Pessac-Leognan appellation, owes its hallowed name to Bertrand de Goth, who succeeded Pope Benedict XI and took the name Clement V. Since 1939, the property has been owned by the Montagne family. The estate consists of 32 hectares, planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as a small percentage of white varieties. The flagship red is considered one of the best clarets in the region. The estate also makes a second wine, Le Clementin de Pape-Clement.
The Pape Clement Blanc is a skillful blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle from a mere 2.5 hectares of land. A stringent selection process and approximately 18 months in French oak make this wine an absolute dream, amazingly well-priced for the quality.
