($41-$45) Pale-medium gold. Aromas of fruit salad, honey and herbs. High-pitched and slightly hard-edged, with penetrating peach and spicy oak flavors. Rather powerful and juicy but not especially fleshy or sweet. Currently a bit unyielding on the finish and in need of time. May well be better than it's showing today.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: July/August 2004Wine Spectator | Rating: 95
Golden-colored, with extreme aromas of honey, candied lemons and mandarin oranges. Full-bodied, very sweet and concentrated. It goes on and on. Thick and rich. Loads of spicy, almost hot botrytis character. 3,330 cases made.Author: James SucklingJancis Robinson | Rating: 17
Rich, broad and very, very full. Relatively low in acidity and faintly raisiny, but no shortage of botrytis. Big build. Very rich and creamy.Author: Jancis RobinsonWine Advocate | Rating: 89
The de Malle 2001 has a soft apricot and marmalade scented bouquet with just a touch of burnt toffee. The palate is ripe on the entry with a hint of spice. It is quite compact but with good weight in the mouth, though it cuts away abruptly on the marmalade-tinged finish and consequently I have to shave a couple of points off my score.Author: Neal Martin
