2001 Olivier Leflaive (Maison) Montrachet Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / PULIGNY-MONTRACHET
Rating: 93
A reserved, even backward nose of classic white flower, citrus and limestone aromas framed by a deft touch of oak leads to big, powerful, mouth coating flavors of intense minerality and marvelous detail as well as brilliant depth and length. This just oozes class and is built along sleeker lines than the more opulent and showy Bƒtard. Exceptionally fine quality for the vintage.Issue: 3rd Quarter, 2003
In 1984, Olivier Leflaive decided to create a new vision for the wines of Burgundy with the help of his brother Patrick and his Uncle Vincent. He had one ambitious objective in mind - to apply their collective knowledge to the vinification of the best vineyards in Burgundy. Although Leflaive purchases fruit from many different vineyards, he is involved in many of the growing decisions.
