($125) Deep red. Redcurrant, tobacco, tomato and fresh herbs on the nose. Soft and truffley in the mouth; seems a bit lacking in grip and flavor authority. Finishes with big, dusty, slightly dry tannins. Seems less successful than the Lamb bottling.

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Wedding Vineyard (a south-facing vineyard planted on a steep slope adjacent to the winery on the backside of the Mayacamas Mountains in Sonoma County) exhibits a gorgeous perfume of scorched earth, charcoal, creme de cassis, sweet cherries, spice box and earth. Sweet tannin, an opulent texture and a long, rich finish make for another strikingly superb 2001 that is approaching full maturity. Given its density and overall balance, it has at least 15 years of life ahead of it.

The winery was founded in 1973, when Fred and Juelle Fisher purchased 100 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains on the western slope of Spring Mountain. There, they built a winery tucked in among the vines and Douglas Firs. The winery itself is a product of the estate, built from the timber that was cut and milled on-site.

In 1976, the family found another 57 acres on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. The property runs from the Napa River to the Eastern Vaca Range, adjacent to the famed Eisele Vineyard, and is the source of thier Lamb Vineyard Cabernet, Coach Insignia Cabernet and Cameron Bordeaux Blend.
