A wine with good blackberry, leather and licorice aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Big and solid red.Author: James SucklingInternational Wine Cellar | Rating: 89
Bright dark red. High-toned aromas of raspberry, cedar and ripe tomato. Sweet, round and lush, with liqueur-like fruit. Could use a bit more lift and definition. Shows a bit more underlying structure than the 2000 but offers similar quality. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: November/December 2004Wine Advocate | Rating: 91
Seghesio's 2001 Barolo Vigneto La Villa offers a compelling, deep nose of spices, tar, and roasted coffee beans. Much more austere today than the accessible 2000, the delicious 2001 is dense and backward, offering dark fruit, tar, licorice and toasted oak flavors with excellent persistence and a lingering note of sweetness on the long finish. A terrific effort that will require patience.Author: Antonio Galloni
