    A brilliant showcase of ripe, pure Rutherford Cabernet flavors, brimming with currant, blackberry, black cherry and plum. Shows pretty floral and cedary, mocha-scented notes, with a long, rich, focused aftertaste that picks up hints of herb and sage. 3,080 cases made.

    A superlative effort for the vintage, the 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a deep purple color along with sumptuous aromas of creme de cassis, blackberries, loamy soil, licorice, and high class toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied and opulent, with remarkable texture as well as length for a 2000, it can be drunk now and over the next 12-15 years. Kudos to the Staglins for this effort.

    Especially deep crimson. Still looks very young ? much more than a year younger than the 1999. This wine is a mixture of the Napa extended hang time style and has a touch of the Rutherford minerality about it. Hint of violets, and beef extract. Grating texture ? grainy tannins. Chewy still but with more lift than the 1999. A bit raw for the moment.

    big and bold on the opening. after 30 minutes, smooth and jammy with notes of blueberries, blackberries, licorice and leather. wonderfully balanced with toasty oakiness and a long finish. great juice.

Situated at the base of the Mayacamas Range on the Rutherford Bench, this sixty-one acre property has ideal soils, microclimate and location. The estate's potential was recognized by some of the first Napa Valley settlers and was planted to vineyards in the mid 1860's. Today the certified organic estate is home to the Staglins, fifty-one acres of vines, an underground winery, the historic homestead and a solar array.

Staglin is undoubtedly within the top tier of California Cabernet producers. In addition to the flagship Staglin Family Vineyard label, they also produce a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay under the Salus label.
