  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89

(cabernet and merlot) Good bright ruby. Floral aromas of cassis, blueberry and blackberry, along with a tarry nuance. Juicy black fruit flavors given shape by sound acids. Not a dense wine but nicely focused and pliant. Finishes with ripe tannins and good length.

Ripe and intense, with vivid flavors of blueberry pie, blackberry and chocolate. Earthy tannins, cedary oak and herbal notes fold into a firm, concentrated finish.

The 2000 Caravina (850 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has more sweetness and plump fruit than the 1999. This elegant, refined, and delicious medium to full-bodied Cabernet should be consumed during its first 10-12 years of life.

The flagship offering from Seavey is their Cabernet Sauvignon known for its classic Bordeaux styling, richness, and longevity, with some vintages achieving 30-40 years of cellaring potential. This wine is built for strength and ageability, with long macerations and three years of barrel and bottle aging prior to release.

Seavey wines are very well-received by critics and fans alike, and since the inaugural 1990 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, all Seavey Vineyard grapes are used exclusively for the estate produced wines.
