  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 88

Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Best after 2005.

Heavy and simple. Definitely not one of the vintage's more distinguished specimens.

  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 87

Soft, ripe, and fruity, with big, smoky, charred berry-like scents intermixed with tobacco and plum aromas, this medium-bodied 2000 is best drunk over the next 8-10 years.

Austere and very dry, this old-school claret may not satisfy those who crave a more fruit forward wine, but for those seeking the dusty, simple clarets of yesteryear, this relatively light-bodied Bordeaux will do the trick.
    Author: Kottabos
Located in the southwest of France, Bordeaux is the single largest fine-wine-producing region in the world, with more than 15,000 growers spread over 57 appellations and more than 700 million bottles produced annually. The region boasts a two-thousand-year winemaking history and some of the wine world's most recognized and highly sought-after names. Red Bordeaux blends comprise eighty percent of production, but dry and sweet whites are also well-known. The region is divided into the Left and Right Banks (of the Dordogne River); Cabernet Sauvignon prevails in the former and Merlot in the latter.
