  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 100

Dark ruby color, with fabulous aromas of blackberries, toasted oak and cedar. Turns to fresh herbs and wild berries. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit. Amazing finish of toasted oak. The greatest wine ever from Clerico. First made in 1995. Breathtaking.

  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

The most complex today on the nose of Clerico's three 2000 Barolos, with notes of smoky red fruits and nuts. Sweet, smooth and seamless, with a glyceral texture that really captures the richness of the vintage. Highly concentrated wine but without the sheer verve and grip of the '99. Finishes with big, rich tannins and impressive length. (Marc de Grazia; importers include Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; and Estate Wines Ltd., San Rafael, CA)

  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 93

This bottle of the 2000 Barolo Percristina offers intense, exotic sensations of super-ripe fruit, menthol and minerals, with an opulent open-knit personality and superb persistence on the palate. Hard to resist now, it will be even better in a few years.

  • This rather small estate in Monforte d'Alba is mainly known for its Barolo, but it also excels at producing great Barbera and Dolcetto and a delicious blend - Arte (Nebbiolo and Barbera). One of the leaders in the movement to modernize the winemaking process in Barolo, Domenico Clerico creates wines that are a bit more ripe fruit-oriented. However, he has such a deft and precise hand that the wines are never blowsy or overwrought. The result is wines that are attractive in their youth but gain in elegance, depth and texture as they evolve.
