Dark red. Plum and cedar on the nose. Sweet, pliant and broad, with modest nuance and dimension to the currant and dried herb flavors. Not underripe in the style of so many 2000s. Seems resolved but still fresh, finishing with attractive lingering perfume. Easy to drink, and probably at its peak right now.

Supple and harmonious, it wins points for its sense of understatement, with spicy currant, black cherry and plum notes that are well-balanced and rich without being too powerful. Fine-grained tannins make it easy to enjoy now.

Considering a just average vintage, this was showing very well. I will buy more for near term drinking. Very Bordeaux flavor profile with just the right amount of new world fruit. Very much a power/balance wine, and with a nice (but not overly complex) depth from the age on the bottle.

My notes from 11/2007 hold true |I think about as good a 2000 cab as I have tasted. Very drinkable now, but structured to last. 91-92| Not at all a fruit bomb, quite similar to a St Julien.

Winegrower Cathy Corison produces artisan Cabernet Sauvignon from great benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena in the Napa Valley. The estate vines of Kronos Vineyard, one of the oldest Cabernet vineyards in Napa, surround Corison Winery in its Victorian-style barn. Farmed organically and growing on gravelly loam soils, the gnarly old vines produce small yields and wines of uncommon concentration and refinement. They are juicy with blackberry and plum fruit, enhanced with a mineral note and violet perfume. Corison's wines are noted for their consistency and impeccable balance, powerful and elegant at the same time.
