($44-$50) Medium-deep red-ruby. Aromatic nose combines cassis, minerals, mint, shoe polish and sexy oak. Suave and atypically showy for a recently bottled Clerc-Milon. This has lovely racy cassis and mineral flavors, a smooth texture and attractively restrained sweetness. Finishes aromatic and long, with thoroughly ripe tannins.

Super aromas of currants, mineral and exotic fruits. Full-bodied, with very firm tannins. This is long and chewy. Tough Clerc, but textbook Pauillac. Cab city. 11,000 cases made.

This flamboyant, dense, opaque purple-colored wine, made from a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, is muscular, with an unctuous texture and high levels of tannin as well as extract. Compared to its other sibling in the Mouton-Rothschild stable, d'Armailhac, it is far more closed and tannic but still somewhat ostentatious, with smoky, leathery notes intermixed with oodles of black fruits and spice box. The wine may, however, have trouble eclipsing the brilliant 2001.

A very elegant wine. Tannins are soft and there is tons of red fruit. Good structure. Definitely ready to drink now but can last for many more years.

Classic Pauillac, drinking well now, will benefit from a few more years

Given 2000 Bordeaux pricing, this wine is one to buy in quantity. Clerc Milon is another Chateau owned by the Rothschilds of Mouton Rothschild. Classic Bordeaux nose of cassis, cedar, tobacco, and anise. Already texturally appealing with intense direct flavors of cassis, cherry, plum, and tobacco. The wine shows good length and finishes with more than enough fruit to compensate for the wood.

opened, decanted and drank through the night. colour: nicely mature with watery garnet rim. nose: plum. cedar. spice and oak. quite complex taste: red berries, slight sherry undertone and a short slightly sour finish. this is a very tasty and refined claret that is now in its drinking window but with 10 plus years ahead. it has a slightly persistent taste of sherry cask and this is a little off putting however this is very very tasty. yum.

This wine can be drink now but certainly have a bright and more complex future within next 8-10yrs. Bright red purple palate with a lot of finness in its floral, lavender, red currant, licorice aromes. Its fresh and lively and its tannins although very present are fine grain and delicious, just a little chewy at this time. Hope to re-taste within next 5yrs.

A fifth-growth chateau that consistently outperforms its rank, Clerc-Milon is part of the famous Rothschild family of estates. Purchased by Baron Philippe for a song in 1970 after it had fallen into extreme disrepair, the property saw a period of investment and re-habilitation and began again putting out quality wines in the early 1980s. Located in the northernmost region of the Pauillac appellation between Mouton-Rothschild and Lafite-Rothschild, Clerc-Milon is comprised of 43 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Camernere. Over recent years, Cabernet plantings have decreased, being replaced with more Merlot. The 14,000 case production is dominated by Cabernet, giving it firm structure and age-ability.
