($139) Medium red with a hint of amber. Quintessential Barolo perfume of dried flowers, nuts and forest floor. Then fresher and more obviously structured than the basic Bussia Soprana bottling, with more thrust and flavor definition. Rich, deep and firmly tannic, but the Cicala is even more solid.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: November/December 2004Wine Advocate | Rating: 91
The 2000 Barolo Colonnello reveals a pretty bouquet with early stages of tertiary development. Tobacco, licorice and sweet spices emerge from the Burgundian bouquet. The Colonnello has aged evenly and gracefully. The tannins have melted away while the fruit is soft and expressive.Author: Antonio GalloniWine Spectator | Rating: 94
Very pretty wine with plum, spice and light earth aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with very silky tannins and a delicious plum and light vanilla aftertaste. Very silky and caressing. Makes you want to drink it now. Gorgeous wine.Author: James Suckling
