($210) Saturated ruby-red, the darkest of these '99s. Knockout nose of black raspberry, violet, minerals and spices; complex and vibrant. Large-scaled but fine, with lovely verve and lift. A wine with great energy and spine, but also silkier than the other '99s at this address. Tannins are ripe and quite fine. Offers a real whiplash of a finish, with subtle notes of berries and gunflint saturating the palate.

Nice concentration of fruit and oak complexity. Medium-bodied, with blackberries and toasted and smoky notes. Plenty of toasted oak and chocolate on the finish, which kicks in with fresh acidity. Well-made.

The dark ruby-colored 1999 Musigny has lovely aromas of violets, blueberries, and candied cherries. Medium-bodied and deep, it is filled with red fruits, stones, pomegranates, and strawberries. Loads of supple, ripe tannins can be discerned in its fresh, long, pure finish.

A supreme Grand Cru. Restaurant bottle. Perfect cork, aerated and shared for 2+ hours. Knockout nose, gorgeous color, and still on the rise. Complex, sublime and incredibly long. Hold another 4 years, if you can. But if you see it once, you might not see it again. A supreme Grand Cru that will end many debates over the next 30 years. Served at The Hobbit Restaurant, Orange County. Priced substantially less than todays auction price. Huge props to the cellar master for preserving this incredible bottle from their original purchase.

Tasted at wopn in 3/07 with Jean-Luc Pepin. Best of the vertical of 96,99 and 01. Bright fruit, absolutely great...needs 10 years to reach peak. Last for decades.

We had this wine on my 50th and absolutely loved it. BH says 2014+as does Clive Coates. It will be interesting to see how it matures, but not easy to wait.

Comte de Vogue is often considered the greatest wine estate in Chambolle-Musigny. It traces its history back to 1450 and amazingly, after 20 generations, the same family still runs the show. The domaine owns 7.25 hectares of the Le Musigny vineyard; these average 40 years old and are labeled Vieilles Vignes. The property also includes smaller holdings of Bonnes-Mares and Premier Cru Chambolle-Musigny. The blending of tradition and modernity in winemaking has resulted in wines that are revered by critics and wine lovers around the world.
