($185) Deep ruby-red. Deep, dark aromas of blueberry, violet, flowers, coffee and mocha. Superrich and chocolatey, with lovely sweetness, but currently quite closed. Has more stuffing for its tannins than the Chambolle premier cru. Finishes firm but ripe and long.

  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 91

Lovely, and seriously structured. Full-bodied and rich, with some wonderfully soft tannins and ripe fruit. Shows plum, prune and blackberries, with some mineral creeping in on the finish. Needs cellaring so the oak can integrate with the wine.

  • Burghound | Rating: 93

Massive notes of blueberry and blackberry jam yet there is a certain austerity to the nose followed by flavors that are huge, firm, reserved and extremely dense and while there is a solid underpinning of tannin, they are wrapped in sappy velvet. The length is just flat out stunning and very powerful. This remains quite closed and while it presently does not possess the refinement of either the '02 or the '01, with time it may catch them as the underlying material is every bit as good.

The ruby-colored 1999 Bonnes Mares has a nose of sweet berries, cherries, and earth. Light to medium-bodied, yet fat, supple, and smooth, it offers blueberries and blackberries in its restrained flavor profile.

agree with Allen's notes. Really great complex fruits with super pedigree. Tried in 2008. Try next in 2010

Comte de Vogue is often considered the greatest wine estate in Chambolle-Musigny. It traces its history back to 1450 and amazingly, after 20 generations, the same family still runs the show. The domaine owns 7.25 hectares of the Le Musigny vineyard; these average 40 years old and are labeled Vieilles Vignes. The property also includes smaller holdings of Bonnes-Mares and Premier Cru Chambolle-Musigny. The blending of tradition and modernity in winemaking has resulted in wines that are revered by critics and wine lovers around the world.
