($65) Full red. Expressive, very ripe aromas of currant, plum, bitter chocolate, licorice, tobacco and leather. A rather tightly wound midweight, with somewhat rustic flavors similar to the aromas. But sound acidity gives the wine good definition. Finishes firmly tannic, with moderate length and some drying wood tannins. The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino demonstrates what he can do when the weather is on his side. A fresh garnet in tonality, intensely spicy and sweet on the nose, it is solid but round on the palate, structured but velvety and polished, warm and enveloping on the lengthy, elegant close.

Very floral and pretty red with blackberries and cherries. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a solid core of fruit. Tight right now. Needs a few years of bottle age. This is a winery to watch in the future.
