  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 93

Full medium ruby. Slightly medicinal aromas of blackberry, cassis, and mint, plus a whiff of game. Fat, lush and supple but uncompromisingly dry, with a large underlying structure. A more elegantly styled wine than the Howell Mountain cabernet. The substantial, building tannins spread out to coat the entire palate.

  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 92

Impeccably balanced, ripe, rich and concentrated, tightly wound and jam packed with rich earthy currant, coffee, mineral and blackberry flavors. Tightens up on the finish, where the tannins bite and don't let go. 645 cases made.

  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 88

The dark ruby/purple-colored 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain, from a vineyard high up Diamond Mountain, exhibits a dense, austere, Bordeaux-like structure, rich, sweet cassis fruit intermixed with earth, licorice, and roasted herbs, medium body, and abundant tannin. Will it ever achieve harmony and finesse? Will it ever be enjoyable enough to actually drink?

  • Lokoya wines are identified with the terroir of Napa's mountain vineyards. Sparse soils, high elevations, good drainage, and the cool climates of the mountains and benches form the backbone for intense Cabernet Sauvignons.

Lokoya's goal is to choose sites, lots, and rows of vines that express the terroir and identity of their location through their wines.
