  • Burghound | Rating: 92

A highly expressive and wonderfully spicy black fruit nose that is still almost completely primary combines with lush, opulent, dense and mouth coating flavors supported by firm tannins that are completely buried beneath the impressive concentration on the hugely long finish. This is actually approachable but only because the structure is hidden and it will continue to age, and perhaps improve, for years to come. In sum, a wonderful '99 that at present has not gone dormant.

  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 94

Full ruby-red. Reticent but vibrant nose dominated by black raspberry and spices. Bright, spicy and pure; not as thick as the Brulees but more sharply defined. A serious, deep wine with terrific underlying structure and grip. Very fresh and unevolved. Like the Nuits Boudots, this seems close in quality to its 1998 counterpart. Leroy owns a relatively large 2.62-hectare chunk of this excellent premier cru.

  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 93

The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Vosne-Romanee Les Beauxmonts reveals a complex nose of violets, roses, and bing cherries. This medium to full-bodied wine has remarkable depth of dark cherries, blackberries, and cassis-like fruit that lasts throughout the long, harmonious finish. It reveals copious quantities of ripe, supple tannin. It is a velvety-textured, extroverted, elegant, and boisterous wine for drinking between 2005 and 2015.

  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 93

Thick in texture and ultraripe, this full-bodied Pinot blankets the palate with subtle ripe fruit, green olives and sandalwood, sweet tannins and a tantalizing sense of classy terroir. The sweetness mingles with fresh citrusy notes to prolong the ecstasy on the superlong finish.

  • "Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France

Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
