I retasted the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard (rated 88? in issue #157), and it is a hard style of wine that will unquestionably last 15-20 years, but falls short of my expectations in terms of concentration, complexity, and depth. The attractive bouquet offers sweet cassis, flower, and earth aromas. In the mouth, it reveals subtle oak, medium body, and an elegant personality with little depth or length beyond its charming, superficial appeal. This is a legendary cuvee, but we haven't seen a great Martha's Vineyard Cabernet in nearly twenty years.

Spicy mint and bay leaf aromas mingle with ripe currant and black cherry fruit, turning smooth and elegant on the palate while displaying richness, depth and concentration; finishes with a full chorus of ripe fruit flavors and firm yet supple tannins. 4,213 cases made.

Very good and youthfull, decant extracts its best.Complex, medium-full body in a good ruby color in palate. Earthy, leaf, cigar box in an elegant way.
