Bright red-ruby. Brilliant aromas of strawberry, raspberry, cherry and bitter chocolate. Wonderfully intense, sharply delineated flavors of red berries, spices and mint; a wine of great density and verve, not to mention powerful structure for long life. A rare combination of silky texture and lightness of touch. Fabulous back end features utterly suave tannins and resounding, vibrant fruit.

The most open, forward, richest and ripest of these 98s with violets, anise plus a fascinating array of spices. Quite austere now with soil-inflected flavors of impressive density. Large scaled flavors that are not especially tannic but with plenty of sappy extract and length. Simply an awesome display of power and grace.

A nose you could die for. Pure elegance, bright red fruits with an incredible concentration. On the palate vibrant, deep fruit and smooth as silk. Long finish and very lovely. Drinking very well, but only will get better and for a long time.

Slight brick around rim but pretty ruby color. Spicy fruitcake and dark fruit in nose, repeats on palate, very intense, well balanced, and good length

Tasted in 2008, with other Vogue Musignys. This is still quite tight with lots of mint and spicy hints, great underlying fruit. Try next in 2011

Comte de Vogue is often considered the greatest wine estate in Chambolle-Musigny. It traces its history back to 1450 and amazingly, after 20 generations, the same family still runs the show. The domaine owns 7.25 hectares of the Le Musigny vineyard; these average 40 years old and are labeled Vieilles Vignes. The property also includes smaller holdings of Bonnes-Mares and Premier Cru Chambolle-Musigny. The blending of tradition and modernity in winemaking has resulted in wines that are revered by critics and wine lovers around the world.
