Good deep red. Serious nose of currant, cocoa powder and tangy spices. Lovely volume and spherical texture; very pure fruit seems a bit less evolved than that of the Suchots. Finishes very long and subtle, with lush tannins. Lachaux has done an excellent job avoiding the dry tannins that plague so many '98s from Vosne-Romanee.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2001Wine Advocate | Rating: 93
he 1998 Romanee-St.-Vivant has a nose reminiscent of perfume, red flowers, spices, and white pepper. Medium to full-bodied, and possessing outstanding depth, concentration, and elegance to its chewy-textured character, this is a jammy, red fruit-packed wine.Drink Dates: 2000 - 2010Author: Pierre RovaniIssue: 129Wine Spectator | Rating: 89
Pretty, in a lean, clean and fruity style. Medium-bodied, it offers delightful ripe black fruit, good balance and a fresh finish.Author: Per-Henrik ManssonIssue: 10/15/00Burghound | Rating: 91
Very deep ruby. This is also quite floral but displays a curious menthol and mint quality plus a background vegetal note that isn't in keeping with the otherwise elegant fruit aromas. The flavors however are precise, intense and punch with superb purity and transparency, all finishing with a distinct edge that may or may not round out with time. To be sure, this is a really pretty wine but perhaps not a classic example.Drink Dates: 2010+Issue: 2nd Quarter, 2005
